How to Send a Tracking Request

Highlights:

Required Fields

The shipment reference number, driver’s phone number, and tracking duration are required fields. Once these are filled out, you can send the request right away. Any other details can be added later using the Edit function.

Driver Notifications for App Installation

1st Text Message - The driver receives a text message with a link to download the app and accept tracking.
2nd Text Message - (12 min later )If the app isn't installed yet the driver will receive a second text reminder.
AI Bot Call (7 min later) - If there’s still no response, our AI bot will automatically call the driver.
3rd Text Message (5 min later) - If the app is still not installed within 5 minutes after the call, a third text reminder will be sent.

Pick-Up/Drop-Off Stops

You can add up to 10 stops to a single tracking request, and the system will calculate a separate ETA for each one. Enter the physical address instead of the facility name. If you’ve saved addresses before, you can quickly select them from your Address Book.

Email Updates

Set your preferred email update settings and add as many email addresses as you’d like to receive updates. You can choose how often updates are sent - every 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, or 4 hours, depending on your setup.

Live Tracking

As soon as the driver accepts your request, you’ll be able to see their live location on the map.

Setup Requirements

The installation process is simple and identical for both Android and iPhone devices.Drivers must enable “Share Location - All the Time,” allow motion access, and grant precise location permissions.

Once their phone number is verified, they can accept your tracking request, and you’ll instantly see their live location on the map.

Lost Signal Recovery

If a driver loses signal or their phone stops sending location data, they’ll receive push notifications and text messages reminding them to refresh their location.They simply need to open the tracking app, and the location will update instantly.

Verification Code Tips

When creating a new account, drivers must verify their phone number using a six-digit code sent via text message.
‍
For security reasons, entering the wrong code five times in a row will temporarily lock further attempts for 30 minutes - a standard measure to prevent spam and unauthorized access.
After the lockout period, the driver can request a new code and complete verification.

Maintaining Live Tracking

For the most reliable tracking experience, drivers should keep the Load Market Tracking app running in the background throughout their trip.This helps prevent interruptions and ensures brokers and shippers always have accurate, real-time visibility of their loads.

ELD Tracking (Beta)

In order to send an ELD tracking request to a carrier, two conditions must be met:

1. Load Market Tracking must be integrated with the ELD provider used by the carrier (Samsara, Motive, or Sparkle ELD).
‍
2. The carrier has completed the one-time ELD connection (API key setup) using the following link https://eld.load-market.com/eld-register

Important:
If Load Market is integrated with the carrier’s ELD provider but the carrier hasn’t completed the API connection, they can quickly connect their API key using the following link https://eld.load-market.com/eld-register. Once done, you can immediately send a tracking request.

If Load Market is not integrated with the carrier’s ELD provider, the carrier must submit an integration request. The process may take a few days, so we recommend using driver mobile phone tracking in the meantime.

How ELD Tracking Works

Depending on the carrier’s setup, one of the following three scenarios may apply:

Scenario #1

The carrier is ready to receive your tracking request via email.

Scenario #2

The carrier must complete a one-time API key connection (it takes 2-3 min).

Scenario #3

No ELD integration. No API connection. Setup will take several days.

Scenario #1: The ELD provider is integrated and the carrier has connected their API key

Click "+ New tracking" buttong to create a new tracking
Enter the Load#
Enable ELD Tracking
Enter the carrier’s MC# .
If the carrier name appears automatically, the carrier has already connected ELD setup.
Enter the UNIT#.
Must match exactly how the unit is labeled in the carrier’s ELD system
Enter or Select the Approval Email
(where the carrier will receive the request)
Select Tracking Duration
Click "Send"

What happens next?
The carrier receives an email and can Approve or Decline.
Tracking begins immediately after approval.

Where can you send the approval request? (Email Rules)‍
This depends on how the carrier registered:

A) Carrier registered with a company domain email
You may send the request to any email ending in the same domain
Example: @company.com

‍B) Carrier registered with public email provider (Gmail,Yahoo,ect)
‍You may send the request only to the approved emails they added during registration.Tip: If you’re not sure which applies, ask the carrier which email they used to register.

Scenario #2: The ELD provider is integrated and the carrier has not connect their API key

If Load Market is integrated with the carrier’s ELD provider but you cannot find the carrier after entering their MC#, it means they have not completed the one-time API key connection from their ELD system. This can be resolved in approximately 2-3 minutes.

Click “Copy Email Invitation” to send the carrier a registration link (https://eld.load-market.com/eld-register). Once they complete registration and connect their API key, you will be able to locate them using their MC# and send a tracking request.

Scenario #3: The ELD provider is not integrated and the carrier cannot connect their API key

If Load Market Tracking is not integrated with your carrier’s ELD provider, click “Copy Email Invitation” to email the invitation link (https://eld.load-market.com/eld-register) to the carrier so they can submit an integration request.

Once the integration with their ELD provider is completed (typically within a few days), all carriers using that ELD provider will be able to connect their API key within few minutes and you will be able to easily activate tracking for any future carriers using the same ELD provider.

In the meantime, we recommend activating a tracking via driver's smartphone.

Additional Information

ELD tracking does not support share tracking links, Chat and BOL/POD attachments

When a shipment is tracked via ELD integration, location data is sourced directly from the carrier’s ELD system rather than the Load Market mobile app.

Because the driver is not connected through the mobile app during ELD-based tracking, certain app-based features are not available. This includes public share tracking links, in-app chat, and BOL/POD document uploads.

These limitations ensure compliance with ELD provider data-sharing and privacy policies and maintain carrier control over access to their ELD data.

Share Tracking Link

How to Share a Tracking Link with Your Customer

When you open a tracking request, you’ll see the driver’s current location on the map.
On the right side, in the Tracking Details panel, click the green Share Tracking Link button.
The link will be copied automatically - simply paste it into an email, chat, or message to share with your customers.
Your customers can click the link to view the driver’s real-time location.
The link stays active for as long as the tracking request is active.

Add your company logo, contact info, and service details to the tracking page to create your own branded tracking portal.

Your customers will also see real-time ETA updates for each stop - providing a more professional and transparent experience every time.

Tracking Statuses

Pending installation

Your tracking request was created successfully, but the driver hasn’t installed the Load Market Tracking App yet. They’ll receive a text with the download link and up to four reminders if needed.

Pending driver's approval

The driver has successfully installed the Load Market Tracking App. Tracking will start once the request is approved.

Active

Tracking is now active, giving you real-time visibility - including the driver’s current location and driving speed directly on Google Maps.

Active (Power save)

The driver has enabled power-saving mode on the phone. In most cases, tracking will continue normally, but the device may occasionally pause GPS location updates to conserve battery.

Not moving

The driver’s location hasn’t changed in the last 10 minutes.

Paused by the driver

The driver has temporarily paused tracking. To resume, the driver just needs to open the Load Market Tracking App and tap the green “Start Tracking” button.

Waiting for an update

The driver’s phone hasn’t sent a location update for over 25 minutes. This usually happens when the driver is in an area with poor signal or the phone battery has run out.

Driver's device settings issue

The driver has disabled the “Always Share Location” option. To restore active tracking, the driver needs to open the phone settings, set location access to “Always” for the Load Market Tracking App, and then reopen the app to apply the update.

Rejected by driver

The driver rejected your tracking requst.

The driver uninstalled the app

The driver uninstalled the app during an active tracking request. To continue tracking, the driver needs to reinstall the Load Market Tracking App and log back into their profile.

The driver deleted account

The driver deleted the account during your active tracking request. To resume tracking please create a new tracking request, and the driver will need to reinstall the app and accept the request again.

1. Safe Device - GPS Spoofing Detection: Yes / No

Detect carriers trying to fake their location using GPS emulators or modified (jailbroken) devices. The protection system automatically identifies when a driver’s phone has been tampered with or is running emulator software - preventing false location data, ensuring tracking accuracy, and keeping shipment visibility fully reliable.

2. Using VPN: Yes / No

Our system automatically detects when a driver’s device is connected through a VPN, proxy, or other IP masking tools.
While VPN usage alone doesn’t always mean the location is inaccurate, it serves as an additional verification signal.
Combined with other fraud-prevention layers, it enhances data integrity and gives you full confidence in every location update.

3. Verified IP: Yes / No

Detect location updates originating from IP addresses outside North America and instantly receive alerts if any signal comes from outside the approved region.

4. Multi-usage: Yes / No

Detects when multiple devices are connected to the same driver account.Although each login requires a one-time six-digit verification code, this situation can only occur if the driver shares the code with someone else or uses multiple devices for the same account.

Security Alerts in Tracking List

If any of the four security checks (Safe Device, VPN, Verified IP, or Multi-usage) are triggered, your tracking request will be flagged with a red triangle, as shown in the image.

This alert helps you instantly recognize potential security risks as soon as tracking begins.Each alert serves as an early warning that the driver’s device, connection, or location data may not meet standard verification criteria.

By reviewing these alerts, brokers can quickly assess whether a tracking session is trustworthy and decide whether to proceed with the shipment or request additional verification.

VoIP Phone Number Identification

What Is a VoIP Phone Number and Why It Matters for Tracking

A VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) number works through the internet rather than a traditional mobile network. While convenient, it isn’t tied to a physical device or SIM card, which makes it easier to hide identity, share access, or send misleading location data.
‍VoIP numbers are also more vulnerable to manipulation and security risks, since they can be used with VPNs, proxies, or GPS spoofing tools.
That’s why identifying whether a driver uses a mobile or VoIP number is essential for accurate, trustworthy tracking and safer load bookings.

How VoIP Identification Works

This verification runs automatically as soon as the driver’s phone number is entered - before the tracking request is even sent.
‍
‍While using a VoIP number doesn’t necessarily mean the driver’s location is inaccurate, such numbers are generally more susceptible to manipulation as they rely on third-party apps rather than standard mobile networks.

Smart Arrival Alerts (Available with any PRO subscription plan)

Stay informed about potential pickup or delivery delays

Smart Arrival Alerts automatically track driver progress and alert you if there’s a risk of missing a pickup or delivery time. It’s available in all PRO subscription plans and helps you catch potential delays before they happen.

How it works

When creating a new tracking request, click the clock icon next to each pickup or delivery address and enter the expected arrival time. Once you do, Smart Arrival Alerts activate automatically.

The system runs regular ETA checks - increasing in frequency as the driver gets closer to the destination - and instantly flags possible delays.If a delay is detected, you’ll see a status update in the platform and receive an email notification sent to the user who created the tracking request and anyone who marked it as a favorite.

Status meanings

Ahead: Driver has plenty of time to arrive.
On Time: Expected to arrive up to an hour early.
Tight: Still on schedule, but cutting it close.
Late: Driver will not arrive on time.

Get more accurate results

For better accuracy, mark whether the driver is solo or part of a team. Smart Arrival Alerts already include live traffic data for more precise ETAs.
However, because the system does not have access to the driver’s remaining ELD driving hours, please keep in mind that alerts should always be taken with a small margin of flexibility.

Create a Sub-User Account

Highlights:

Add New Users
Easily invite your coworkers to your company account by clicking the “Add User” icon and entering their email addresses. You can add up to five users at once - quick, simple, and efficient.
Assign Roles
Choose between three user roles: Manager, Broker, or Carrier — depending on your company setup. Managers can invite new users, Brokers have access to all tracking features, and Carriers can manage their own shipments and driver tracking.

Account Activation
Once you send the invitation, users receive an activation email. After they verify their account and set a password, the status will automatically change to Active.
Manage or Remove Users
Need to make changes? You can easily delete or update any subuser account at any time with just one click — keeping your team list clean and organized.

Tracking History

Highlights:

Automatic History Storage
Every completed tracking request is automatically saved in Tracking History for three months. During that time, you can review all the details whenever you need. After three months, the record is automatically removed from the database.

Search Filters
Tracking requests can be quickly filtered by reference number or by the driver’s phone number. This makes it easy to find exactly what you’re looking for - no matter how many loads you’ve tracked. Simple, fast, and efficient.
